The Experiment

Rose woke up. She didn't know where she was... all she knew was that she was in a glass container. "What the hell?" She banged on the glass, there seeming to be no way out of there. Suddenly, funnily enough, an alien girl walked in. She walked up and waved to Rose. "Hello!" she smiled. "I mean you no harm!" Rose looked at her strangely. "Who are you!? Why am I in here!?" "I am Jeyna," she said, her voice slightly muffled by the walls of the container. "And you are a test subject." The green-haired girl froze when she heard those words.

"W-what!? Test subject!? What are you going to do to me?" "You will see," she said. Wondering what she meant, Rose didn't need to ask, as she felt the tank filling with water. "...What the hell?" "Do not worry, I shall expaborate..." ...Jeyna wasn't good at English... "I am putting you through water test, to see how long humans hold breathing." "...Wait, you're going to drown me!?" "If that is the term."

Rose panicked, trying to escape the chamber, but there was no way out. The glass was too thick. The water reached her knees. "Please, let me out! I can tell you information!" Up to her hips. "I am sorry... I cannot." "What!?" It was at her chest. Once the water filled the tank, that'd be it. She'd be done for. She tried to bargain with the green-skinned alien girl, but to no avail. The water went above her head, and she got one really good breath of air before it filled the tank completely.

"Good! Now testing can begin!" Jeyna started a timer. The clock counted up... every second seemed like ten... Eventually ten seconds passed, and she was already starting to feel the effects of breathholding. fifteen seconds. She looked at Jeyna, who was carefully and closely examining her. At 30 seconds, her face started to turn red. At one minute, her face started already going a light blue. "Hmm... fascinating..." All Rose could do was stand and watch as the timer kept ticking. She tried swimming up, to get to an air pocket or something, but there wasn't one. 'Wow,' she thought, 'Do I really just wait here until I drown!?'

The 90-second mark hit, and her lungs started to burn. She winced in pain a bit from the increasing severity of her need for precious air. She looked at Jeyna again, this time with pleading eyes. Jeyna just took this as a jot note. "Hmm... you are behaving well..." She panicked and banged on the glass, but to no avail. At 2 minutes, her face was a dark blue. She was almost at her limit. She put a hand over her mouth to stop herself from breathing in the water. Jeyna smiled as she took down information. 'Wait, is... is she enjoying this!?' She kept trying to hold her breath, but it was a desperate struggle.

2:30... her face a deep purple now, she felt like she was at her limit. Like she couldn't hold any more. Though she damn well tried. She had to clasp both her hands over her mouth and nose, but she did manage to stop herself. Her face turning a deeper shade of purple, she looked on, knowing Jeyna must know something is wrong! She looked on, but eventually, finally, at the 3 minute mark, passed out.

Rose awoke in a soft bed, a table next to her with sweets on it. She found a cookie and immediately started eating it. Jeyna walked in. "Ahh, there are you!" Rose nodded. "Yes, here is me." she chuckled a bit. "But, I'm... alive? You said you wanted to test for breathholding limits." "I did... you could not hold any more... you passed down." "...Right, of course." "Besides... you were one of many test subjects... by also way, very thank for putting up much fight." "Of course..." "And, feel free to leave... I am on planet." "Sure," Rose said, getting up,  "...But, um... before I go, we should talk about this grammar of yours..."
